If I only had a dollar for every time somebody asked me why we put “PIGS” on our chocolate bars I would be a very wealthy lady! The truth of the matter is quite simple. We produce high quality All Natural European chocolate truffles.

When we decided to create a chocolate bar we researched where the word truffle originated from. What we learned is that truffles are a rare mushroom found in the forest, also called the diamond of the kitchen. To find these unique delicacies pigs were used because they have an innate ability to sniff out these exotic treats.

Understanding that chocolate truffles and truffles have nothing in common we decided to bring these two ideas together, thus creating “The Truffle Pig”. Aren’t those pigs smart?

Since 2007, Hagensborg Chocolates ,  has been producing  the finest All-Natural gourmet chocolates in all the land. In our Chocolate Kingdom, our reigning Chocolate Princess personally chooses suppliers who harvest ethically, from sustainable cocoa plantations in regions renowned for exceptional taste and quality. Hand crafted by her royal highness’s 2nd generation chocolatier and personally anointed with the princesses magic wand, each chocolate is made with the finest European chocolate and ingredients.

Our magical products have been marketed throughout Canada, the United States, Japan, Singapore, UK and now Australia. Major Department stores, specialty grocery chains, gift stores,Book stores and many independents have fallen under the spell of our magical recipes!

But it wasn’t always this way…

In 2004, Shelley left the Four Seasons Hotel to become a sales rep in the former Hagensborg Foods Ltd.
In 2006, Hagensborg launched the new look and design including the Truffle Pig.
In 2007, Shelley bought the brand and rights to Hagensborg Foods Ltd. and started Hagensborg Chocolates Ltd. on her own.
In 2008, in response to the recession, Hagensborg created the piglets to retail for $1.
In 2009, Hagensborg created it’s seasonal items.
In 2011, Hagensborg launched it’s Nostalgic flavour bars; Mint Chocolate Chip, PB&J and Bubble-gum.
In 2011, After a trip to Paris to research chocolate, Hagensborg created the Wild Boar chocolate bars made with Single Origin and Organic chocolate.
In 2013, Shelley had a baby….all product development was on hold!
In 2015, Hagensborg is launching 4 new Truffle Pig bars, new seasonal items converting the Wild Boar bars to certified organic and fair trade.
